Youth Programs

Class Project 2008: Sonora Beam, guest artist, leads Downey High School Students in two artistic class projects.

The first guides each student to create an artist’s journal, a creative dreamtime where they will learn art techniques that culminate in a handmade book illustrating their life goals.

The second, The Recycled Art Project 2008 will be a Museum/High School class project on the art of the found object, culminating in an exhibit at DMOA @ Furman Park.

Class Project is an ongoing program that was successfuly launched in 2007.

Youth Afield:
We all remember the class field trip to the Museum with the Dinosaur. We know now how important that was to our childhood. We'd been to a museum, we'd seen another world. We'd been changed. And no matter what we did in life, we would always remember it.

Youth Afield takes High School students and teachers on field trips to important exhibits around the southland to expand their knowledge in art and culture. Field trips also include talks on architecture and L.A. History.
