The picture above is our architect Michelle Kaufmann’s house. Michelle will be custom designing a house for us: The Downey Museum of Art @ The Glidehousetm.

This website is all about this new project. On these pages, you will find out more about us, our plans, the cutting edge architecture of the Glidehouse and Thinking Green.

The Glidehousetm Initiative is an important new program at DMOA.  As part of our making art & ideas visible mission, we chose the Glidehousetm as our new headquarters, exhibition and program space because it is one of the groundbreaking ideas in 21st century architecture and living green. Our initiative is to create an educational demonstration site for sustainable design, energy efficiency and green living using The Glidehousetm as the educational tool. Contemporary art is about the ideas of our time and living green (sustainability) is one of the most important. You will find these ideas threaded throughout our programs. Ideas that can help create a sense of place, a well-lived life, a better world.

Notes on Living Green: An Ecology of Life contains musings on the art of living green as well as shares some new real life info on creative projects, events, and places that support a green lifestyle.
