Live Green

Living Green & Contemporary Art

What does Living Green have to do with a contemporary art museum?

Contemporary art is about the ideas of our time and we feel that sustainability is one of the most important ideas for life on the planet. So we threaded this into our mission, our business practices and our programs. Living Green is an integral part of contemporary life and life at The Downey Museum of Art.

We are committed to a sustainable life.

A Sustainable Life: Living Green, Living Well

What is sustainability? The answer is simple: it is what truly sustains us.

It is living in a way that conserves resources and the planet for future generations.

We take it even further. Living green is a whole life project.

We each have the opportunity to not only help the planet but also decide how we want to live.

A sustainable place values nature, beauty, differences, innovation, and ideas as much as clean air, water and earth.  Art, a good book and culture are integral threads of life. Listening is as important as being heard. And the necessities: laughter, play, and love are always welcome.

Creating a life we enjoy while making a positive difference to this place we call home: our street, our neighborhood, our town, the bioregion, the state, the nation, and the planet is at the foundation of living green. It gives meaning to our lives, and to our sense of place.
