The historic DMOA was founded on the idea of providing a place for artists to have a voice and to exhibit.
Continuing that tradition, our goal is to offer artists a forum for their ideas. Ideas on contemporary life. Works rich in meaning and story with craftsmanship and innovation. Vision.
We've re-imagined the museum to hold many opportunities for exhibition. And we like to cross-pollinate by inviting folks from various fields to participate together.
Essays by prominent thinkers and writers might accompany an exhibit or in Culture Chronicles they might be the exhibit.
Real Life Lab, Heather Foxhall explores the artist as healer and visionary, and brings together leaders and innovators to collaborate on re-imagining our world. Mixing real-time storytelling, visionary gatherings, the Show simulcasts from around the globe direct to our website and Glidehousetm location.
A Traveling Medicine Show for the 21st Century.
And our new museum building, The Glidehousetm, in itself is an exhibit demonstration site on living green, a work of significant 21st century architecture and a canvas for the artworks specifically commissioned such as a Deborah Butterfield Horse on the visitor's deck to welcome us.
And on-line we will experiment with new ideas in virtual exhibition and explore new ways of making art and artist's voices more visible and accessible.
Film, interactive media, printed material, the web, spoken word, podcasts are all mediums we will use.
And because sustainability is deeply threaded throughout our Museum, naturally we will explore Ideas for Inspiring a Better World through the eyes and minds of artists.
In fact this website is an exhibit of our ideas re-imagining the Museum in the 21st century. Building a sense of place and offering a place to gather.
