The first piece in our new collection Abby Picking Cherries by Raymond Meeks, is the perfect touchstone for the future of the DMOA collection: beautiful, mysterious, evocative. A story calling us.

It is our hope that the new collection will document not only the artists but the stories and visions of our time. Observations, philosophy, ecology, beauty and the spirit.

And of course next fall you will be able to walk right inside the artwork we have been waiting for so long: The Glidehouse. Our first building in our new museum project. An example of significant 21st century architecture. A simple structure that tells the story of where we are in the world and what is truly important to us. As a significant work in sustainable design and tipping point in architectural history, we are proud to include The Glidehouse in our collection as a reflection also of our mission. It is a great way to start. Oh and on the visitor’s deck, a Deborah Butterfield Horse will welcome us.

Some of our art collection will be designed right into our new Museum buildings, A Dale Chihuly ceiling, a Karen Combs wallpaper, a John Nava. And artists like Bo Bartlett, Loretta Lux, Gregory Crewdson, Jorge Marin, Andy Goldsworthy, are all artists on our collection list. All story tellers of our time. And of course, when we can afford it, from our dreamlist, a David Hockney. Photo: Jim McHugh courtesy L.A. Louver Gallery.
